Colorado

My second opportunity to shoot George as a Canon EOL and PrintMaster was on location near his home in Colorado. George scouted some pretty remarkable locations to become the backdrops for his piece.

Garden of the Gods near Colorado Springs became the main set to shoot interviews and “B roll” with George as he shot with the 1Ds Mark III. We arrived straight from the airport, set up and started shooting. We weren’t about to let any of that beautiful sunshine go unrecorded.

Then it was up at daybreak and out into the marsh to get some birds flying and various four-legged creatures roaming. There was a lovely large marsh filled with cattails where the birds were abundant and the scenery was beautiful.

I knew I really liked George when he said we had to stop at Starbucks on the way to the pond!!!

After a day of shooting outside, we set up to shoot in his studio where he showed us a couple of inventions he engineered to shoot his super macro work. Then we shot him in his print room where he prints his amazing panoramas. Here he told us a great story about an elephant charging his jeep in Africa. Sounded like a close call!

When the shoot was over, his wife Kathy, who is the writer and coeditor of his books, whipped up a glorious gourmet meal for us to top off a great shoot day! And George generously signed and gave all the crew members a copy of his beautiful book, Golden Poppies of California!
