We traveled to the pristine mountains of Idaho where beautiful running horses, working cowboys and cowgirls were the subject of a Shooter’s Insight with Canon EOL David Stoecklein and the new EOS 7D.
Rudy Winston, Canon Technical Specialist, joined us in Idaho for this shoot. We worked together showing David the great the features of the 7D, including a new intrigue for him, movies.
We were up at the crack of dawn, (actually before!) and out on the range in time for the sunrise to get shots and footage of horses and the spectacular scenery. And at night, we built a campfire and got some great footage due to the excellent High ISO capability of these cameras.
David arranged for some of his long time cowboys to do some round-ups and cattle roping on the range. We had some real beautiful days to capture the amazing landscapes that were in every direction you turned. And David found some really wonderful settings for horses running, horses with riders high on the cliffs, cowboys Yeehawing. We felt like we went back in time to the real days of the Wild West.
And of course, we had to try the famous Idaho potatoes on for size. And I mean that literally. My plate bore a baked potato that had to be as large as a man’s size 11 shoe!!!
When we returned to New York, we put together a teaser, a short “Day in the Life” and 7 tutorial episodes on David using the camera. Our episode on Image Quality is a highly viewed clip on VIMEO!
